About Babes
In Australia, accidental injury is the leading cause of death of children aged between 1-14 years. Home is the most common place for young children to be injured. The majority of these accidents are preventable.
Babes Safety has been developed to promote and improve child health and safety in homes within the community. We run workshops and seminars for parents and carers. All sessions are conducted by a qualified, experienced peadiatric nurse specialist - in the comfort of your own home.
About Sophie
Sophie Linton, RN. BN. PGDACN (PIC), completed a Bachelor of Nursing at La Trobe University. In 1996 Sophie joined the team of staff in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Royal Childrens Hospital Melbourne and enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Nursing (Paediatric Intensive Care), a course run in conjunction with University of Melbourne and Royal Childrens Hospital Melbourne. Sophie remains in the unit and now practices as a clinical nurse specialist.
Sophie's experiences within the hospital have given her the foundation and incentive to develop Babes Safety (Be Aware Before Emergency Strikes), with the concept of teaching parents and carers about child health and safety. The frighteningly high numbers of preventable childhood accidents and the paucity of support for parents motivates her to want to help parents to keep children safe and healthy.
